Fink
Bluesy, introspective and creeping around your
earphones like Joseph in a pair of very soft bedroom
slippers, Fink does ‘downtempo’ with sincerity
and devotion but fails to clue in the tunes

Fink ~ Sort Of Revolution ~ review

Dirty Projectors
An album that combines the frustrating time-signatures
and stop start malarkey of old progressive dinosaurs
like Yes and King Crimson with the bonkers-pop
antics of serial fruitcakes like Bjork

Dirty Projectors ~ Bitte Orca ~ review

Ape School
It’s the infinite monkey theorem but with bucketfuls
of reverb, moog synthesizers and the kind of lush,
lysergic dreamsounds that would have had Timothy
Leary tap-dancing into the next dimension

Ape School ~ Ape School ~ review

Speech Dabelle
Dripping with smart and sexy poetry and showcasing
one of the finest oboe riffs on record, tracks
like 'The Key' pack an emotional punch in an increasingly
crude and superficial world

Speech Dabelle ~ Speech Therapy ~ review

Swimming
It’s intense; it makes your head spin and its
surging, neo-Gothic passion fills the entire room
with ether.

Junior Boys
Dreamy hypnotic vapour pop for a generation comfortable
with its feminine-side and equally as comfortable
in its pair of lounge-room slippers

Junior Boys ~ Begone Dull Care ~ review

Man Like Me
Chipper cautionary tales with a bootful of optimism
and the kind of gas that inflates balloons: boozed
up boys in city centres, violent loafer dramas,
proud single dads and coping with a life held
vicariously together by no end of little white
fibs

Man Like Me ~ Man Like Me ~ review

Art Brut
Whilst one can only assume there must be some
terrifically profound statement being made about
Post-Capitalist Britain, the sheer quantity of
words and images pouring out of the lead-singer’s
mouth makes it almost impossible to identify.

Art Brut ~ Art Brut Vs Satan ~ review

The Hours
The Hours' second album gives away nothing initially,
but slowly builds itself up into something crafted
clearly and methodically from layers that hint
at optimism but never break into obvious full
acknowledgement. Crud Music tries to See The Light.

The Hours ~ See The Light ~ review

Yeah Yeah Yeahs
If anyone was wondering how the Yeah Yeah Yeahs
would or could ever mature and exist as a band
that wasn’t a feisty 20 year old anymore, here’s
your answer.

Twisted Wheel
The observational commentary isn’t as sharp as
say Alex Turner and his prickly, acerbic Monkey
men but even gassing about sun cream and school
canteens raises the bar on the likes of Just Jack

Twisted Wheel ~ Twisted Wheel ~ review

Tom Brosseau
Less Proust and more Tom Sawyer. Everything is
either caving in or up in the air, combining to
form beautifully illustrated tales of North American
life experienced by some unsophisticated hick
from the valley

Tom Brosseau ~ Posthumous Success ~ review
