Eliza has music in her Genes. Savvy street sort does naughty.
'Skinny Genes’ is the debut release from 21 year-old
Eliza Doolittle. With mischievous lyrics about an irritating but sexy
boy - “It’s a bit of a naughty sex song, basically,” says Eliza - ‘Skinny Genes’
is incredibly catchy, whip-smart pop, with a whistling refrain that will have
the milkman in raptures.
Born and raised in north London, Eliza Doolittle (a childhood nickname that
stuck) has been writing songs since she was 12, and is talented enough to have
landed a publishing deal by the time she was 16. A diehard fan of classic pop
in all its different guises, from The Beach Boys to Stevie Wonder, its perhaps
unsurprising that Eliza’s music manages to mine sounds from the ’60’s and 70’s
while managing to sound indisputably fresh.
“My music is not a particular genre, says Eliza. “It’s not bubblegum or cheese.
It’s just good songs, pop songs. It’s just my songs.”
The debut album from Eliza Doolittle will be released this summer.
