Earlier this year Medium 21 released a bit of
a ragged classic of an album in ‘Killings From The
Dial’, so broad in its spectrum that it really did
sound like a combination of every indie band you’ve
ever heard swapping instruments under one roof, comforting
each other on their recently lost loves. Live, as Crud
has witnessed, they are a twitching tour de force and
throughout May they’ll be no doubt coming close to blowing
The Cooper Temple Clause off stage on their UK
tour. We caught singer John Clough during their
last tour back in March to ask him where his head’s
at.
1. Where are you now and what can you see?
I am in Arge’s front room this morning and I can see
a portable heater, a cheque book and a mug of tea.
2. What was the last thing you ate?
On the way home from a gig last night in Cambridge I
purchased some dirty chicken which really did pay homage
to the word dirty.
3. What was the last thing you hated really quite
passionately?
Norwich losing to Ipswich 2-0 vs. the last time George
Bush opened his mouth
4. What’s your most prized possession?
My calculator watch. It tells the time whilst being
very good with numbers and best of all has taught itself
to turn TV’s and video’s on and off, that’s very special.
5. What was the last film you saw?
Monsters Ball. It stars Halle Barry and Billy Bob Thornton
and is just a great piece of sexy, sad, funny story
writing, up there in my top 5 of all time me thinks.
6. What did you dream about last night?
Hand gliding for the second night on the trot
7. What’s at the top of your to-do list?
To stop being so negative
8. What/who do you idolise, if anything?
Brian Wilson, Evan Dando, Elliot Smith cause I think
they are all just great
9. What’s the average t-shirt size of band members?
Medium (unavoidable pun)
10. Any plans for next weekend?
A weekend of gigs, and chicken.
