| There was this one particular
single, out towards the end of last year, and it positively cascaded. It heaved
and it glowed and it sparkled, in the most humble (not to mention hummable) way.
It was brisk and acoustic and laced with piano, with a shoegazing sheen thanks
to its driving momentum – like Ben Folds working with the Radio Dept. And then
there was this wonderfully wispy 2 minute outro like a Led Zeppelin ballad with
backing vocals from the angels. It was three and a half minutes of indie-pop perfection.
But Crud had no idea who it was because the radio never told us – the cruel swine.
But then one day it gave up its secret. It was Ambulance Ltd. The track was ‘Heavy
Lifting’, we are still in love with it, and we have since discovered there is
more where that came from. Forthcoming single ‘Stay Where You Are’ for instance.
There’s an album on the way too. We asked frontman Marcus Congleton where his
head was at before they come over and woo us into February on tour with The Dears. 1.
