| Music. And fear. It has to be said, we’re fairly afraid of those satanic Norwegian black metal sorts, y’know, that burn down churches and that. Fear Of Music the band however, they’re a bit of a misnomer. They’re no timid folk band or anything like that either. Though perhaps it’s just an excuse, because they give music a good firm kicking over the space of 3 tracks on their debut ‘We Are Not The Enemy EP’, condensing the channeled aggression of Pixies, Foo Fighters, Muse, good Boy Kill Boy, early spiky Manic Street Preachers, and ignored agit Brit rockers Kinesis into tight explosive nutshells. So it was all in self defense, honest. We grabbed a few introductory words with guitarist Mike Ward to find out where his head’s at before he’s called in for more questioning…
Where are you now? What can you see?
In the living room at my parents' house. I can see a computer and wall and a bookcase and an acoustic guitar. Exciting.
What was the last thing you ate?
An apple. Think it was red.
What was the next album you intend to buy? Why?
Bloc Party ‘A Weekend In The City’. Because it's the only album this year that I'm really all that bothered about, except the forthcoming FOM album, of course.
What was the last movie you saw? Opinions, details…
Umm...It may have been Battle Royale. That was brilliant, Japanese schoolkids + lots of violence = cool
What are you most looking forward to?
Recording our album and touring the fuck out of it for all our beautiful fans.
What do you hate right now?
I'm not really about the hate. It's an awfully nice day.
What was the last thing you liked that you saw on TV?
I've been watching a hell of a lot of Scrubs recently, it's incredible. Loving Curb Your Enthusiasm as well.
Where or how do you feel most comfortable?
Probably curled up with a good book and a glass of decent red wine. Aww, ain't I cute.
What are you scared of?
Everything. Don't make me write a list...aeroplanes, bridges, large bodies of water, death, big dogs, the polar ice caps melting, being buried alive...
What are your plans for tonight?
I don't know. Might just stay in. Rock 'n' roll! Relevant
