| We’re not saying that Ikara
Colt’s ice cold (what’s cooler than cool, yeah?) sophomore record ‘Modern
Apprentice’ would have been out on its ear without her, but since new bassist
Tracy Bellaries joined they are a svelter band, a tighter band, a more
stylish band if you will. John Ball embodied their heavy handed punk lumbering
perfectly, and he really was immense fun, but you don’t feel he had anything else
up his tatty sleeve. And they only put him down for 5 minutes on their US tour
– it was months before he showed his face again. You can’t be taking reigns on
tour with you. We caught up with the new girl to find out what makes her tick.
1. Where are you now and what can you see?
In an internet
café. A computer screen and a huge traffic jam....other people. Not very exciting.
Although if I sat here long enough I’m sure there would be some kind of action,
there usually is round where I live.
2. What did you have for breakfast
this morning?
A beer.
3. What was the last thing you hated
really quite passionately?
The last thing I really hated was a person
I knew a very long time ago. I don’t hate them now - it passes. Also most of the
hideous things I see on the news every day - that list is endless…
4.
What was the last book you read?
‘Ask Dr. Mueller’ by Cookie Mueller,
a collection of autobiographical short stories by a woman who inspired me to live
my life the way I do. She was pretty fearless and an all round amazing woman.
She started out as an actress in John Waters early films and went on to be a writer,
mother, world traveller, art critic, amongst many other things, and she rocked!
She died of HIV related illness in the late 80's - that part I don’t aspire to…
5. What was the last film you saw?
Kill Bill, I thought
it was a great Tarantino movie, could have done with more of his trademark dialogue,
but I am expecting that from the sequel. Uma Thurman was fantastic. Didn't change
my life or anything!
6. What did you dream about last night?
My friend from The Polyphonic Spree, I must get in touch!
7. Have you
ever done something important?
No, my life is entirely empty and
meaningless.
8. If you could see through someone else’s eyes for a
day, whose would they be?
George Bush. Would like to know what the
fuck goes on in the head of someone like him. Frightening.
9. What
angers you about yourself?
Laziness, wasting time, taking things for
granted too much.
10. What are your plans for tonight?
Get horrendously drunk with a good friend I haven’t seen in a while and stay up
all night. Cheers!
