| The ability to make grindingpoundingprimalrocknfuckinrollbabyyeah
does not evaporate at Detroit city limits. No it does not. Even if it has been
responsible for recent years’ prime cuts. We have a new contender in the red corner,
ladies and gentlemen… Welwyn Garden City in, erm, Hertfordshire! Okay, so we’re
looking at a David and Goliath style pay-per-view confrontation here, but by Christ
do The Subways seem an agile opponent. They were catapulted into national
consciousness last year, winning the Glastonbury unsigned competition, playing
the Other Stage before lunchtime to a gathering mass of curiosity. Their debut
single ‘Oh Yeah’, released at the end of March, is a little belter of banging
drums and yelping, sounding very Von Bondie, in a very nice way. They will, it
seems, tour everywhere, forevermore, from hereon in. We grabbed one of them (sorry,
not sure which) via the speedy miracle of email to give us a piece of their minds
in-between gigs… Where are you now? What can you see? We are
in Dundee and the table hoisting our rider is in front of us. We’re in our dressing
room, which also happens to be the promoter of the venue’s office.
What

What are you most
looking forward to? Seeing Kylie at Glastonbury.
What do you
hate right now? Style, cool, panache. All a bunch of codswallop.

Scary, tear-jerking, side-splittingly funny.
Where or how do you feel
most comfortable? On stage. With our instruments.
What would
you class as your most defining moment, personally? There have been lots.
Can’t really distinguish. Our births?
What are your plans for tonight?
Eat dinner. Play gig. And love it all.
