Love him or loathe him he is, for the moment at least,
here to stay. Andrew W.K. is set to release his second
single entitled 'She Is Beautiful' on February 11th.
It follows the release of his debut single 'Party Hard'
which entered the UK singles chart at Number 19. Both
singles are from his debut album 'I Get Wet', which
was released on Mercury Records last November.
Andrew W.K. launched himself hard on the British public
late last year, playing his first ever live show at
The Garage to a sideshow of indelicate hype, but more
importantly, to a raging crowd. An eben more indelicate
collision with a stage diver led to a nasty bump on
the head and an overnight stay in hospital. He also
graced the double cover of the NME, headbanged his way
through several TV appearances (including Top Of The
Pops) and is now set to return to the UK in Jan-Feb
for a headline spot on the NME's Carling Awards tour.
Andrew W.K. has made an unstinting commitment to make
the loudest, most exhilarating music possible. 'She
Is Beautiful' provides fans with a pure adrenaline hit
of pop/rock/metal, a hooky sing-a-long chorus, and fortnightfull
of headsores. Andrew W.K.'s music, his P.R states, is
a 'juggernaut explosion of sound, a non-stop pounding
of radio pop, anthemic metal and the best of everything
you have ever heard that is good, rolled into one'.
And whether you agree with it or not, there's plenty
of other dislocate, expletive-chuckling headcases out
there who tend to agree.
Andrew cheerfully explains "Whatever you do in life,
if you go full bore you're bound to get wet - whether
it be with blood, sweat, urine, semen or girl's lubricant.
This record is about cutting into the heart of existence
and getting wet…..".
Does he have a point? Or is an arse with a meal-ticket
anecdote for every occasion? You figure it out yourselves.
