SOuNd BiTeS!! THE DAVES (Ilford, UK) - Not In England
They're overpaid, overfed, over-sexed, overweight and over here! No Not the Yanks - The Daves! Take a bite of this ...

THE DAVES are: Jim (singer), Pete (guitar) and brothers Johnny (bass) & Dave (drums) from Ilford. They love football, they like blagging gigs in far-off and exotic European capitals and playing Stones, Beatles and Oasis covers. And they all like a bit of footie (well who doesn't?). Got their first break when they met Stone Roses guitarist Aziz Ibrahim who invited the lads to play at Glastonbury and recorded their bunch of tunes during 2007's ‘Tequila Sessions’ and which later made their way on to their 'Forever Happy' mini-album release. A stint in LA and California eventually led to John Astley (The Who, Led Zeppelin, Bowie, Clapton) mixing the band's showcase tune, 'Not In England' - a statement of intent, a manifesto and a fistful of British romance all at once. Why Jim wants to sound like Noel and not Liam Gallagher is anyone's guess. It's a bit like hearing someone sounds like the Beatles only to find they have Ringo up front. Rather shamelessly adopts the style of ‘The Importance of Being Idle’ but a top tune though all the same.
