This summer Hoobastank are returning to the U.K. with a brand new single and a selection of live dates which fans of the band may hope will cement their growing reputation in rock’s hierarchy. Since the release of their eponymous debut album Hoobastank have made big strides in the U.S. and now they are turning their attentions to the U.K. On the 15th July 2002 Mercury Records release the brand new single ‘Running Away’ and also this July expect to see Hoobastank blowing audiences away just as they did when they first hit the U.K. in January on the Incubus tour.

Hoobastank were formed in California in the 90’s and have honed their craft over a number of years. They put out a self-released album, ‘They Sure Don’t Make Basketball Shorts Like They Used To’, in 1998 and very quickly sold every copy. This attracted the interest of every A&R man in the U.S. but it was the man who discovered Korn that secured a deal. In November 2001 they released their debut major album ‘Hoobastank’ in the U.S. and it rose up the U.S. charts into the top 20 and has already sold over half a million copies.

April 2002 saw the U.K. release of the album and their introductory single ‘Crawling In The Dark’. The single quickly became a firm favourite on Kerrang TV, was playlisted by Radio 1 and some areas of the press were heralding Hoobastank as the next big thing. Now with the release of ‘Running Away’ the band are aiming to fulfil their potential. Where ‘Crawling In The Dark’ was a surging rock record, ‘Running Away’ showcases the band’s diverse songwriting talents with it’s soaring melody and powerful rhythm.

The band are just as formidable live as they are on record. Having supported Incubus on their European and U.S. tours Hoobastank are now comfortable playing club shows or arenas. This summer sees the band play at three major outdoor U.K. events as well as their headline show at Nottingham’s legendary Rock City as part of their massive European live schedule.
