Gorkys Zygotic Mynci: Gorky's Zygotic Mynci
return this September with a new single and lp for Mantra
Recordings, and will be playing a series of special
one-off shows in the month leading up to it.
The new lp, entitled How I Long To Feel That Summer
In My Heart will be released on September 17th,
less than a year following the release of the mostly
acoustic mini-lp The Blue Trees.

The new lp was recorded at Rockfield at the end of
last year with their regular producer Gorwel Owen, also
one of a number of guest musicians on the record which
also includes Teenage Fanclub's Norman Blake
and Teflon Monkey. 'How I Long…' is Gorky's Zygotic
Mynci's seventh full lp and is reported to see them
scale new heights in terms of songsmithery and instrumentation.
The label also indicates a 'fuller, more layered and
more colourful sound'.
The lp features eight tracks written by Euros Childs,
one by Megan Childs and three from Richard James, including
the first single, Stood On Gold (also sung by
Richard) which is scheduled for release on September
3rd. The group is completed by guitarist Rhodri Puw
who joined the band two years ago and new drummer Peter
Richardson (formerly with North Wales band Topper).
The full lp track listing is as follows: Where Does
Yr Go Now?/Honeymoon With You/Stood On Gold/Dead-Aid/Can
Megan/Christina/Easy Love/Let Those Blue Skies/These
Winds/How I Long/Her Hair Hangs Long/Hodgeston's Hallalujah
Gorky's Zygotic Mynci will be undertaking a full UK
tour in the wake of the lp. Prior to this they will
be taking the Mynci 2001 tour to America in July including
their own show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York. They
have scheduled the following UK events during August.
On Friday August 3rd they will be headlining 'The Big
Weekend' a free festival that takes place in the centre
of Cardiff. On Sunday 5th August they headline the first
of four nights at the Scala celebrating Mantra's
5th birthday. Gorky's also play the Carling Festival
on August 25th (Reading) and 26th (Leeds).
