Taken from the Sheffield band's acclaimed album 'We Love Life', the
single features exclusive bonus tracks - cover versions
of two of Pulp's biggest hit singles, one by Nick Cave
and the other by Fabian Antonio & Roisin Murphy (of
Moloko). Nick Cave contributes a 'crooner' version of
'Disco 2000', whilst Fabian & Roisin get suitably pumped
with their house take on 'Sorted For Es & Wizz'.
The CD comes in two formats. CD1 features 'Bad Cover
Version' and two new Pulp songs 'Yesterday' and 'Forever
In My Dreams'. CD2 comprises the Video Version of the
A-side (see below for details!), plus the the Nick Cave
and Roisin tracks. The promo clip that accompanies 'BAD
COVER VERSION' is directed by Jarvis Cocker (Jarvis
has previously directed videos for The Aphex Twin and
made the 'Outsider Art' series for Channel 4), and is
a rather astonishing pastiche of the Band Aid - 'Do
They Know It's Christmas?' video. In the PULP video,
bad lookalikes of artists such as George Michael, Elton
John, Missy Elliott, Bono, Tom Jones and many others
sing along to the Pulp track in Sarm West, the same
studio in which the Band Aid clip was filmed. Jarvis
Cocker himself makes a cameo in the video as Queen's
Brian May (other band members can also be spotted by
the discerning viewer), whilst a bad lookalike of Jarvis
also makes a noteworthy appearance.
In further PULP news, guitarist Mark Webber has amassed
a star chamber of DJs to take part in an expanded cinema
extravaganza at The Scala, King's Cross on 21st March
entitled 'Andy Warhol's Silver Factory'. Several classic
Warhol films (including his 1966 magnum opus 'Chelsea
Girls') will be screened, whilst luminaries such as
man-of-the-moment David Holmes, Bob Stanley/Pete Wiggs
(Saint Etienne) and Richard Coles (BBC Radio 3) will
DJ alongside Mark Webber, playing period pop, soul and
opera whilst Edwin Pouncey (Savage Pencil) rocks the
NY avant-garde. Live performances and interventions
are also planned for the night.
Contrary to widespread rumour, PULP will NOT be appearing
at this year's Glastonbury Festival. If fans wish to
see the band live, they are strongly advised to purchase
tickets for PULP's 'forest tour' in June. BAD COVER VERSION VIDEO CLIPS [all clips less
