It was a bit of a bumper year for ar' Nelly, 200.
Two top five singles, an album that reached number two,
triumphant festival appearances, awards ceremonies,
a bit of a downturn supporting U2, touring the world.
Considering Nelly hadn't released a record until January
of last year, this wasn't at all bad.
Nelly Furtado plans to begin 2002 as she means to go
on with the release of '…On The Radio (Remember The
Days)', the third single to be taken from her double
platinum album 'Whoa, Nelly'.
A rumoured stab at those who are ruled by faddish thoughts
and the dictates of fashion, the song looks likely to
be another convincing hit. A track that always seems
to go down well with the fans live, (as well as being
her personal favourite) the song more than adequately
showcases Nelly's distinctive vocal talents. From the
staccato guitar line and not-quite-rap verses, the song
builds to a stadium-sized chorus that can't help but
provoke a singalong. Like the two single releases before
it, '…On The Radio (Remember The Days)' is said to be
as infectious as it is popticious.
The single will include the Carl H mix of '…On The Radio',
as well as the Nelly vs Asha mix of her first single
'I'm Like A Bird'. Also on the CD will be a CD-ROM Video
for the single, which has been directed by the invincible
Hype Williams. Best known for his stunning hip-hop videos,
Nelly and Hype worked closely together on production,
becoming firm friends in the process.
Early 2002 will be spent touring the US, but look out
for some UK dates soon, including what Nelly hopes will
be her first shows outside of London.
